Spring
Sunrise
Blocking out the concrete world that fills the streets below
eyes drawn to the sunrise - what magic – what a glow.
The words I put on paper, pale to what I see
I trace the pink filled clouds drawn to the hand of Thee.
The lusciousness of daybreak as cars pass left and right
sun now rising in the east - moon sets to end the night.
Does anyone take notice – the tableau to start the day
a feast for eyes and Spirit – please stop rushing on your way.
The Creation in this moment to be beheld by all
Why not STOP - pull over, take a break to take God's call?
A Summer Rain
Hot and heavy humid air no relief in sight
toss and turn for hours on end – can't sleep well at night.
Sit outside and watch the sky waiting for a sign
for cooling rains and shifting winds, electric streaking line.
The crackling of thunder and then the flashing light
the sky becomes so deep and dark then suddenly it's bright.
Waves of weather come and go – the storm and then the calm
what peace and love and strength I feel held gently in God's palm.
Omnipresence
I feel God's breath in a warm summer breeze
And witness Her dance on the waves of the seas.
God's tears so apparent She shares in our pain
I feel God's compassion in torrents of rain.
God's voice I hear when the birds chirp their song
An aria of joy to this world we belong.
Her Hand there to guide me, each moment, each day
God's Omniprescence to light journey's way.
The Wind
God's breath or hands
that shake the trees
a violent storm or
a
gentle breeze
Invisible force to my naked eye
searching for answers
in the darkened sky
Path of destruction or
a
cooling kiss
How did my God
create all of this?
Free will to chose
the path I take
Let me choose love
for Spirit's sake
Take hold of God's hand
let life force flow
through veins of my branches
when the winds of life blow
Pull out weeds of guilt
which belong in the past
no matter the weather
the roots hold me fast
Pruning dead branches
once laden with shame
release all my burdens
and placing of blame
My tree now perfection
to dance free with grace
no force can unearth me
from my sacred space.
Celebrate!
Celebrate the imprints from the past can wash away
Celebrate the struggle when they want to rule the day.
Celebrate to fill my heart with love, release all fear
Celebrate when fear returns, Your presence now draws near.
Celebrate – untie the knots – that ribbon now flies free
Celebrate the present – that's gift-wrapped just for me.
Celebrate relationships – embrace each precious one
Celebrate complexity – celebrate the fun!
Celebrate the victories and celebrate defeat
Celebrate the feeling “there's nothing I can't beat.”
Celebrate the power that's unleashed within my soul
Celebrate a life with You – a life that's real and whole!
The Bird Bath
A divot in the ground from a recent rain now filled
Nothing ever wasted – nothing ever spilled.
A robin settles in to cleanse its precious soiled wings
Funny how our loving God arranges all these things.
Carefree splashing what a way to wash and pass the time
Living life in harmony – so utterly sublime.
Choose Wisely
Fragile twigs with buds so new
a robin lights and lands,
fearless is the robin
as it flies to loving Hands.
Hidden strength, deep roots, rich earth
branches bend with Grace
robin still and peaceful
knows it's in God's special place.
So many trees to chose from
with trunks so broad and wide,
appearances deceiving not
its radar instincts guide.
The Squirrel and the Nectarine
Picnic lunch out on the lawn, so peaceful filled with rest
A luscious lounging summer's day one of the very best.
Munching on my nectarine - the phone inside I heard
I left my nectarine outside – I saw a squirrel had stirred.
I finished conversation and when I took my seat
I noticed missing from the plate half-eaten tasty treat.
I never knew a squirrel ate fruit or had a mouth so large
And when our eyes made contact, up the tree the squirrel did charge.
How great to share my picnic with this furry friend from God
When he rested on the branch's limb, I gave my friend a nod.
Whale Watch
How can such a creature who looms so large and great
float buoyantly in water as though it has no weight?
Mother Nature holds the whale in graceful loving hand
I watch this splendid show from the Whale Watch deck I stand.
Mother, calf together – in tandem dive and feed
mother tending to the calf fulfills its every need.
Mother's moves deliberate but the calf plays with delight
To see them close together, the magic, mystic sight.
Despite the ocean's vastness from each other never roam
and travel through the waters of their grand aquatic home.
Rhythmic movements 'in the wild' more civilized than we
no cell phones, pagers do they need to travel in the sea.
To communicate by instinct and know just what to do
in serenity and calmness, you live your whole life through.
Summers in New England to feed and gain your weight
in winter travel South nature always guides your fate.
Life's lessons I can learn from you be trusting and in peace
when life's natural rhythms guide, stress can now decrease.
Stay close to God's true nature-hear the inner Voice
and blessings will be with me if I let God guide my choice.
The Butterfly on a Whale Watch
The butterfly was frantic flying on a boat at sea
Attached to me, it wouldn't leave, “Please don't set me free.”
I tried to coax it gently from my neck and from my hair
But I could tell it was too scared to fly in ocean's air.
I cupped it in my hands – at first it wouldn't fly away
But it knew it had to go somewhere, on me it couldn't stay.
It gathered up its courage and soared away from sight
God sent me this message, to help me see the Light.
To end up in a place so strange I've never been before
No panic should be in my soul, God opens every door.
And when I take a leap of faith I cling to God so tight
Knowing I am safe and strong, release all sense of fright.
Seasons in New England
We wait all year for summer, and mourn it when its past
We wonder why one season wasn't made to last.
Feel God in the changes and feel life's loving flow
Embrace ALL of the seasons, God has a plan you know.
As summer days draw to an end, few minutes 'til its dark
Stop the moaning, look around – you'll find the Spirit's spark!
Hear the crickets chirping - the end of summer song
Feel the cooler breezes, as the days now move along.
As we bid goodbye to summer, God still has quite the show
Fall leaves ablaze with colors to bring a loving glow.
And when the cold of winter comes with endless darkened night
Remember that the love of God now glows in candlelight.
When winter's grip holds on so long don't doubt the coming Spring
In the midst of winter, God graces everything.
We know that winter never stays and leaves return to trees
Sun brings warmth, the buds appear – God's breathing in the breeze.
Don't wait and wait for changes or mourn the moments past
Feel God in EVERY season, for love and peace to last.
The Seasons of the Soul
Bright blue – piercing blue gorgeous August skies
Everyone complaining of how the summer flies.
I see the Artist's lighting though the days are growing short
Shadows cast upon the trees my mind can sift and sort.
Reflections on a summer's day – the beauty at the shore
Prepare for fall and winter – the quiet that's in store.
No weeping for the shorter days or snow upon the ground
Cultivate the seeds within in winter's silent sound.
Feel the blessings of my life as seasons ebb and flow
Give myself the time I need to in Your likeness grow.
The seasons changing of my soul - to know them every one
From the darkness of the winter to summer's shining sun.
I am thankful for all seasons the rich tapestry they weave,
And will make a graceful exit, when it's time to leave.
The Light on the Lawn
From my second bedroom window – on this first day of Fall
Spotlight on the flower bed – nature's wake up call.
The air still smells like summer, the sun's rays shining hot
But fall apparent when the sun moved quickly from that spot.
And though the days are shorter (they're really not you know)
The falling leaves dance 'round me inviting me to grow.
Release the hold on summer – perfection found in youth
Embrace the years and moments to seek and hold the Truth.
I cherish change of seasons – the hope inside the seed
The quiet hibernation to surrender every need.
To huddle close to feel the warmth – the fire burning bright
The stars appear and celebrate the longer days of night.
Though I “see” the trees are dying there's no need to weep
Trees are resting gently, prepare for winter's sleep.
The long dark days of winter may weigh heavy on my heart
But even in the darkness, from God's Love we'll never part.
The branches may be threadbare – their riches yet unseen
They hold all of the mystery protecting fragile green.
Snowflakes gently falling – with silence touch the ground
Blanketing the dirt and soot God can now surround.
Put on the cloak of winter with its hope and touch of Grace
Make angels in the fallen snow to consecrate this place.
Surrender to the seasons, the dark and then the light
Feel the heartbeat of God's rhythms as we pass through day and night.
Reflect within and find myself to feel God's loving Source
Glow to feel God's radiant warmth a magnificent powerful Force.
To dispel the thoughts of grayness, the darkness and the fear
The winter's night upon the soul cold breath so fresh and clear.
God Speaks to Me In Snowflakes
God speaks to me in snowflakes
A silent joyous sound
Unique and gentle dancing free
Beauty touches ground.
Hard pavement – cold – they land with grace
Transform the heart of stone
Release the joy and heal the pain
Feel warmth in every bone.
Through gray and clouds I see the sun
Spring's beauty breaths away
But I wouldn't trade this moment
Of this blessed winter's day.
The Sign
Trees weighted down - they're heaped with snow
their branches bend with grace,
Reflection of the winter's sun
diamond patterned lace.
They know to not fight nature
they'll bend but never break
Embrace Divine connection
a resilient path they take.
Oh that I now find that path
avoid paths laced with fear,
They're poison to a life that's free
and beckon darkness near.
Fear release your grip on me
you blot out Truth and light
and blind me to this blessed scene
where God shines in the light.
The bowing graceful branches
extension from the Hand
“Come my dear beloved
hear only my command.
To love yourself and love the world
stay on the path with me
These branches are my sign of peace
and love shall set you free.
Faith can blanket any fear
remove its hurting sting
My winter snow – a comfort
feel all the joy I bring.”
The Winter Storm
Mystical, magnificence, – the height of winter's storm
Feeling now protected, blessed with safe and warm.
Pillow mounds to blanket the earth-the chaos now must cease
The world stands still, on center stage the snowflakes dance for peace.
See God in this wonder-land, a world now pristine white
Neighbors help each other – pleasure in God's sight.
The joys of children sledding making angels in the snow
Snowmen laughter – rosy cheeks – the world now all aglow.
Snowblowers' song it's time to start return to worldly things
Remember with each winter storm the gift it always brings.
The time to stop and listen and see the world anew
God's Presence ever present to always pull us through.
Anticipation
Expectant pregnant bellies' buds
bird song coaching birth
Sunshine rain unfolding leaves
as trees increase their girth
The magic of this time of year
Planned by the Master's hand
A feast for sight and sound and smell
on heart and soul they land.
Barren trees now bloom with life
erasing winter's pall
To live a life that's filled with joy
to listen for God's call
No matter what the weather
a life is always blessed
new life, rebirth each moment
God's love will do the rest!
Spring
The barren trees stand naked
shiver in winter's cold
Soon they will be blessed and dressed
in colors green and bold.
Hints of Spring – God's breath is warm
the birds prepare the nest.
The Earth renewed – refreshed – reborn
after winter's rest.
Unfolding beauty stretch and rise
a new day of my soul
The moment of awakening
Awareness Oneness Whole.
The Songbird in Winter
The morning's still with not a sound with barren trees in cold
A voice so clear to pierce the day a sign of hope to hold.
No warmer days for this sweet bird its mission loud and clear
Reminder of the warmth and love Creator's always near.
To sing a song of joy and love though darkness may prevail
The greatest gift a chosen one to blaze a different trail.
In the midst of my dark winter, a gift gave birth in me
Healing songs in heart and soul – the gift of poetry.
Wrapped in a blessed blanket protected from the storm
A fire burned with passion to keep me safe and warm.
Depression in the winter a thing of days gone by
I join the songbird's chorus and give thanks my soul can fly!
Blossoming and singing though Spring is months away
Amaryllis, Christmas cactus bloom such joy in everyday.
Winter's ice and snow and slush come on angels' wings
Pay attention keep awake to see what winter brings.
Eliminate the waiting, the groaning, and the whine
Glory lives in winter to help the soul refine.
